Development of Spa Region

Development of Spa Region (Photo gallery from the Project)

The town obtained support within the frame of INTERREG Program for across-border cooperation with Poland for years 2005-2006. Activities with the northern partner were focused on the development of tourism, exchange of experiences with the partner from Poland and establishing thematic tourist tracks were supported by the EU resources as well as the state by the sum of 1.9 million SKK. Six thematic tracks: The Track of the Upper Turiec Region Cultural Sights, the Agro-Tourist Track, the Mineral Springs Track, the Cycle Tracks, the Fairy Tale Track, and the Environmental Track were established within the frame of this Project. The partners from Poland took part in the opening ceremony of these tracks and they actively participated in all competitions.
The Track of the Upper Region Cultural Sights is designated for all lovers of historical sights and attractions. The bigger part of the track is suitable for walking, for more remote parts of the track a car or a bicycle is recommended. The length of the track is 25 kilometers. The track leads along local roads; 1st and 2nd class roads in Turcianske Teplice District.
The Agro-tourist Track is mainly designated for lovers of nature and especially horses. For taking the track a bicycle or a car is recommended. The length of the track is 30 kilometers. The track leads along local roads; 1st and 2nd class roads in Turcianske Teplice District.
The Mineral Springs Track is mainly designated for lovers of nature especially mineral springs. The bigger part of the track can be taken on foot, for the more remote parts of the track a bicycle or a car is necessary. The length of the track is 25 kilometers. The track leads along local roads; 1st and 2nd class roads in Turcianske Teplice District.
The Cycle Tracks of the Upper Turiec Region which begin at the leaving point in the center of Turcianske Teplice are designated mainly for recreational, non-professional cyclists and cyclotourists. The main information center provides basic information about the individual tracks, the kilometer length and the board with a map for better orientation in the area. The Cycle Tracks are marked by classical labeling by means of painted signs with orientation marking: cycle-signs. Individual tracks lead along 1st and 2nd class local roads, forest and field paths. The Cycle Tracks create a net interconnecting Turiec area by means of which also less accessible interesting places can be reached. To fulfill the aims of the Project “Development of Spa Region” it is important to finish building and marking of the individual tracks with quality marking and orientation system. It is important to inform tourists about interesting places along the track that are worth to visit.
The Fairy Tale Track copies Educational Forrest Park “Bor” Path where “A Journey through Fairy Tale Forrest” is organized every year. About 400 children, mostly little children with their parents, participate in this event. The event is a big success and participants would like to take part in it more often; within the frame of the Project the Fairy Tale Track was created which can be used by children whole year around. Individual outposts of the Fairy Tale Track are marked by boards with fairy tale creatures on them and they can be seen by children “live” on the Children’s Day. The purpose of this Track is to increase the interest of children and their parents to take trips to a nearby Forrest Park more often, not just on the days when there is an event organized by the town.
The Environmental Track is planned as a net which is possible to take on foot or by a bicycle. Individual destinations of the track or Enviro Tracks are marked by the boards with a short description of a locality and its importance. The Track is designated mainly for lovers of nature who want to obtain more information about the nearest countryside of Turcianske Teplice and to visit these environmentally important places. The length of tracks is not given exactly because of individual appraisal of each visitor.
